Making Spirits Bright

Thank you to everyone who has helped to make this holiday season a special time for our youth! From financial donations, collections of stocking stuffers, and gifts for all of the kids to providing meals, activities, and experiences, together you are making spirits bright!

You can help make spirits bright this Christmas by giving! You can give wherever is needed or support our capital projects (new cottage kitchen cabinets & new vehicles).

Give Hope

Don't know what to get a loved one for Christmas? Make a gift in their honor and give the gift that changes lives!

Home Receives Expedited Re-accreditation

'' ''

This November, Children’s Attention Home received expedited national re-accreditation through the Council on Accreditation. For the past 18 months, the Children’s Attention Home has been pursuing national re-accreditation, including first-time accreditation for youth independent living services.

"We are so proud to have achieved expedited reaccreditation through the Council on Accreditation!" says Executive Director Emily Parrish. "The accreditation process is quite an undertaking, but it so rewarding to have our policies and procedures compare favorably to internationally recognized best practices.  This is one more way the Children's Attention Home ensures the best quality care for the children we serve."

The Good Stuff

Every day, our youth are working hard towards their goals. Your support provides for almost half of the Home's resources - our mission would not be possible without you. Here are some of the "wins" you made possible last month:

  • After a rough couple of weeks with school, Todd was able to finish another high school credit. He is exploring a career in becoming a barber.

  • Some of our middle school residents are joining the school's wrestling team and three others are conditioning for track season.

  • Two young men were selected to participate in job shadowing opportunities with the City of Rock Hill.

  • With help from his school, Jake started a new job at the sports and events center.

  • Jim began a new job at Food Lion and is doing a great job balancing his schoolwork with his job. Through careful budgeting, he earned enough to purchase a phone!

  • All youth have participated in community service activities, such as Operation Christmas Child, Angel Tree, Salvation Army, and Rock Hill clean up!

  • Groups of youth have enjoyed visits to Winterfest at Carowinds, Discovery Place, & Frankie's Fun Park!

*Details are changed to protect the confidentiality of the youth, but the stories are real accomplishments you make possible!

Crossroads Program

Youth who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless stay in the shadows. Unlike the stereotype many hold for "homeless", these youth work to blend in, hiding their true needs from those around them for fear of judgment or to simply protect themselves.

Not only can you help by sharing that youth homelessness is a problem in our own community, you can help youth find help, home, and hope!

WOW! You blew us away!

On #GivingTuesday, Nov 30, the Home shared that 3 donors were matching up to $25,000 in donations. We knew this would be a challenge, but YOU answered the call! Thanks to so many of you, over $52,000 was raised!

Generous donors make our work possible, and have done so since the Home was established over 50 years ago. Here are just three of the many people in our village that make nurturing care and life-changing services a reality for youth at the Home:

Mary Fishburne

Navneeth Nalajala

Clay Luton
